The opportunity
An ambulance service was looking for an experienced interim to deliver a horizon scan on their current Health and Safety polices over a short period of two weeks. The remit was not to look in-depth into the actual dispensary of Health and Safety provisions, but to look at where Health and Safety ‘sits’ within the Service and provide recommendations on possible improvements. The interim would then deliver the results to the board to consider for future change.
The engagement
The interim conducted the review of policies and procedures across all sites. Due to the short timeframe of this assignment, the interim focused on four key areas to develop:
- Health and Safety
- Fire Safety
- Violence and Aggression
- Manual Handling
The difference
The trust will use the finished report to enact a full-scale review and upgrade of all of their Health and Safety services across 90 ambulance stations.
