Interim Branding Programme Manager for Charity

This well-respected charity in the UK is working to inspire everyone to create a better world for animals. It has over 1,500 employees and almost 7,000 volunteers.

In 2023, the charity was approaching its 200th anniversary and had launched a rebranding programme that would coincide with the anniversary. To lead the programme, it required an experienced and skilled Interim Programme Manager that not only had charity sector experience but also extensive expertise in branding, marketing and communications to be able to lead and drive the rebranding programme.

Engaging Practicus to source an Interim Programme Manager to lead the rebranding programme, we immediately began our search process. We began by capturing a full brief; spending time with key stakeholders for the work to understand the specific deliverables, the programme, its budget and timeline, and the type of characteristics best suited to the role.

The rebranding programme would include various marketing and communications skills to be able to achieve its objectives. This included creating and managing external communications regarding the rebrand via the website, sites/locations and retail outlets to support its project to further increase public engagement. In addition, the programme required good relationships to be built across the organisation, at every level, to manage the consistent roll out of the programme and new brand.

Providing a dedicated Consultant, our search focussed on mining our extensive network of Charity and Third Sector candidates. Reaching out to targeted candidates with specific marketing and communications expertise, we vetted each one to ensure they had the right level of experience within branding, marketing and communications so that all CVs presented to the charity were closely aligned to its requirements. In particular, we spent at least two hours with each candidate to fully discuss the employer proposition, its values and strategy for the future to ensure the right cultural fit.

As a result of our search, we were able to place an Interim Programme Manager for Branding within three weeks – well within the charity’s timeframe and measures for the contract.
